Alumni Association Committees

The Loyola University New Orleans Alumni Association offers many volunteer opportunities that invite you to stay connected, engaged, and involved with Loyola today. By giving your time as an alumna/us, you make tremendous contributions to our beloved alma mater and to our fellow alumni. Some of these fun and rewarding volunteer opportunities include committee work. You do not have to be a member of the Board of Directors to join a committee. E-mail alumni@loyno.edu if you are interested in serving on one or more of these committees.

Career Mentoring

The Career Mentoring committee leverages the Alumni Association to support the professional development of Loyola students.  The committee shall identify and define professional development strategies, tactics and metrics in collaboration with the Career Development Center and serve as the key informant and stakeholder alumni group for the Office of Alumni Engagement and the Career Development Center.  The key tasks of the committee are to identify and define ways in which alumni can support students’ exploration of career paths; share best practices from life experiences; and review offerings from Loyola and offer suggestions.

Membership & Outreach

The Membership committee works to ensure that alumni feel welcome and included at local events sponsored by the Alumni Association and/or the University.  The committee also works to grow the board applicant pool and increase the number of alumni participating in the various boards and committees that comprise the Alumni Association.

Loyola Loyal

The Loyola Loyal Committee represents the fundraising arm of the Alumni Association. The committee members work to assist alumni engagement staff in the planning and execution of an annual solicitation strategy with particular focus on Loyola Loyal Day (Loyola’s Day of Giving), held in April. Members of the Loyola Loyal committee will also assist with peer-to-peer fundraising and solicitation.

Scholarship

The Alumni Association gives out two types of financial awards- a legacy scholarship and a graduation award.  Responsibilities of this committee include: attending committee meetings; reviewing current scholarship criteria, reviewing application materials, interviewing candidates, and identifying and selecting recipients.  The scholarship committee will meet once in the fall semester to determine the recipients of the graduation award and twice in the spring semester to determine the recipients of the legacy scholarship.

Regional Chapters

This committee consists of the presidents of all regional chapters. Members serve as resources to each other to build Loyola’s chapter network.

Reunions

Whether you are celebrating a milestone class reunion or want to gather by a special-interest, affinity, or constituent society, we encourage you to form a committee with the assistance of the Office of Alumni Relations.  Those celebrating a milestone reunion in 2018 are the Classes of 2008, 1998, 1993, 1988, 1978, 1968.
