Open Enrollment at Whelan Children's Center

The Whelan Children’s Center, Loyola’s on-campus childcare center located on the corner of Freret and Calhoun Streets in the heart of uptown New Orleans, is an early childhood education center that offers high quality, full-time, year-round childcare.  The Whelan Center serves children of students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members.  You do not need to be a member of Loyola’s campus community to secure enrollment at the Whelan Center. Enrollment is open to children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

The Whelan Center is open Monday-Friday, 7:30am—5:30pm, and is closed during university holidays.  Our days at Whelan include purposeful and developmentally appropriate activities for emotional, social, physical, and cognitive growth.  Some of the varied activities include weekly visits to the Loyola Barnes and Noble bookstore for story time and live musical performances by our accomplished faculty and students.  Naptime is a part of our afternoon schedule for all classrooms, and toilet training is facilitated for age-appropriate students.  Quality snacks and meals prepared by our own dedicated cook are served daily.  Continuous summer childcare is provided and included with the price of tuition.

If you are interested in taking a tour or enrolling, please call the Whelan Center at 504.864.7273.
