Young Alumni Pack

The purpose of the Young Alumni Board (YAB) is to strengthen ties with recent graduates and encourage their continued involvement with the university. Young alumni are invited to share in all events and benefits of the alumni population, but in addition, are offered programs designed exclusively for them.


Young Alumni Board - What do they do?

The university’s Young Alumni Board develops and sponsors events that focus on career development, community service, and other social activities to further enhance the relationship between young alumni and the university. Those who have graduated within the past 10 years are invited to participate in young alumni events and are encouraged to consider serving a two-year term on the Young Alumni Board

Young Alumni Board Membership – Who can join?

Alumni who have graduated from Loyola University New Orleans within the past 10 years are eligible for membership. Members are expected to attend and participate in both general and committee meetings.

What are the requirements?

• Alumni must serve as a board member or a committee member
• Board and committee members will serve a term of two (2) years
• Committee members will sign-up and actively participate as a member of at least one (1) committee
• Be a good steward to Loyola University New Orleans through your time, talent, and treasure
• Attend at least 4 of the 8 general Young Alumni Committee meetings
• Attend at least 2 of the 4 committee meetings
• Attend at least three (3) Young Alumni/Alumni events
• Notify the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations if you are unable to serve a term of two years

Where and when do the meetings take place?

General meetings (include board members and ALL committee members) take place twice per quarter (8 meetings per year) in Greenville Hall on Loyola’s Broadway Campus.
Committee member meetings take place once per quarter (4 meetings per year, or as set by the committee chair) in a location to be determined by each committee chair.

What Young Alumni committees can I join?

Marketing/Public Relations/Promotions: Responsible for all communications and marketing to local young alumni through, but not limited to: email blasts, facebook, website content, and young alumni spotlights.
Personal Development/Social Networking: Responsible for assisting the local young alumni population with social networking and personal development through, but not limited to: happy hours, religious programs, and special interest programs.
Professional Development/Career Networking: Responsible for assisting the local alumni population with career networking and professional development opportunities. This can include: working in conjunction with the career development office, professional mixers, and speed networking programs.
Philanthropy/Community Service: Responsible for assisting the young alumni population with service opportunities at the frequency of at least one (1) per month. This includes service to Loyola University New Orleans, which includes, but is not limited to: volunteering with Loyola sponsored events, working with LUCAP, and assisting various grassroots organizations to help rebuild the city of New Orleans.
Spirituality: Responsible for assisting the young alumni population with reconnecting to Ignatian Spirituality, which includes, but is not limited to: working person retreats, and hosting talks by favorite Loyola Jesuits.
