S.A.A. (Student Alumni Association)

What is the S.A.A.?

The Loyola University New Orleans Student Alumni Association (S.A.A.) is a student run organization formed in 1991. S.A.A. promotes student-alumni interaction and develops motivated and involved student leaders who become active members of the university both as students and alumni. S.A.A. programming helps students to form lasting bonds with Loyola University New Orleans; it helps develop friendships with other students and with members of the university faculty and staff; and it helps students to excel in their chosen careers and professional endeavors. Overall, this dynamic organization works for the enhancement of our education and degrees from Loyola University New Orleans through service to the institution. By fostering a community atmosphere that transcends the time spent on campus, students of the past, present, and future are given the opportunity to develop life-long friendships and memorable college experiences.

Who supports the S.A.A. and is the group part of a larger national organization?

Sponsored by the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, this 20 member organization has its office and advisor on the second floor of Greenville Hall on the Broadway Campus. S.A.A. is a member school in District III of a national network, Student Alumni Association/Student Foundation, based in Washington, D.C. S.A.A. is governed by an executive board, which consists of a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, historian, and membership chairperson.

How can I become a member of the S.A.A.?

Anyone interested in becoming a member of S.A.A. must submit an application to the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, Attention: S.A.A. Membership Chairperson at 7214 St. Charles Avenue, Box 909, New Orleans, LA, 70118. For more information, please call (504) 861-5447.

What are some of S.A.A.'s annual Programs?

  • Loyola Night at the Zephyrs - spend an evening with alumni out at the ballpark with the triple A baseball team (Houston Astros) New Orleans Zephyrs.
  • New Student Orientation - enjoy a variety of fun events as we welcome new students at the Swamp Stomp (Audubon Zoo), Campus Luau, and Family BBQ
  • March of Dimes Pumpkin Carving Contest - gather together with friends and fellow campus leaders for a spooky fundraiser for the March of Dimes.
  • Homecoming - act as a host or hostess to alumni and friends during weekend events including the Annual Alumni Luncheon, President and Dean's Welcome Reception, The Golden Wolves Reception, and Saturday Night Celebration.
  • Wolfpups Story Time - an afternoon for alumni and their families of award winning stories, scavenger hunt, face painting, and sno-balls.
  • Attack of the Pack - campus wide spirit initiative to encourage participation and attendance for the annual Loyola vs. Tulane Basketball game.
  • Business Etiquette Dinner and Fashion Show - a program co-sponsored by the Counseling and Career Services Center to generate awareness and knowledge of contemporary trends and acceptable professional behavior.
  • S.A.A. Night at the New Orleans Brass - get up close and personal to the exciting hockey action as our local semi-pro hockey stars battle division foes.
  • Parents Weekend - assist parents and friends during a weekend of programming including faculty spotlight lectures, shadow your son or daughter to class, interactive seminars, President's reception, Mass, the Jazz Brunch, and much more.
  • S.A.A. Easter Egg Festival - join fellow students, alumni, and their families for special hunts, music, games, prizes, and an ice cream social.
  • Senior Week - this is our chance to congratulate and say good-bye to the seniors. Programs include the Graduation Grub breakfast, Senior Snoballs, Senior Roast BBQ, and the Senior Crawfish Boil.
